Sophomore application process

Students not initially invited can apply to enter the Honors Program at the end of freshmen year. Interested students should submit the following three items by June 1 to honors@providence.edu

  1.  One-page letter explaining why you are interested in entering the Honors Program.

  2.  Official Transcript. Request from the Office of Enrollment Services an official transcript to be sent to the Honors Office in Ruane 247. Make this request after your Spring semester grades are available on Cyberfriar.

  3.  Two Letters of Recommendation. Ask two faculty members who know your work to send their letters of recommendation to the email address above. Please note that one of your recommenders must be your DWC professor. The letters should assess your intellectual abilities, writing skills, and the quality of your class participation. Be sure to convey these requirements to your faculty recommenders and give them a copy of this form.

Admission into the Honors Program as a sophomore will not increase or alter any scholarship or financial aid you now have. Applications will be reviewed by the Honors Advisory Committee in early June. In the meantime, feel free to contact the Honors Office if you would like to talk further about the program.
